Short Biography

Jacob Gareau is pursuing his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering. He joined the McMaster Automotive Resource Centre in May 2016, and is currently working on the Chrysler project as a research assistant. Jacob is eager to see how the theory of power electronics is applied in industry while working with a team of highly skilled individuals.

Jacob excelled in math and was intrigued by the laws that govern the natural world from a young age. Due to his diverse interests, Jacob did not decide to pursue engineering until partway through high school. After graduating high school in 2011, he took a year off before attending McMaster University to study the Bachelors of Engineering co-op program. After one year of studies and finishing in the top 15%, Jacob chose to pursue a degree in electrical engineering because of his love for programming and his passion for solving circuit analysis problems.

Jacob would like to pursue a Master’s degree in power electronics or a computer engineering related field once he graduates in 2017.

Jacob enjoys spending his down time reading Harry Potter or travelling with his girlfriend. He also runs on the varsity track team for McMaster.
