Short Biography

Fei Gao received his B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Western University, London, Ontario Canada in 2017. He is currently pursuing his MASc. degree under Dr. Emadi in electrical engineering at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. His research areas focus on Power Electronics.

Born in China, Fei was drawn into the vivid description of various natural phenomena and realized his talent in math and physics. When he grew older, he became fascinated by engineering designs which could solve complex problems in effective and practical way.

Motivated by personal preference in engineering, He came to Canada to study Electrical Engineering as Bachelor degree in Western University at London Ontario. Undergraduate study prepared Fei in terms of academic foundation and applied skills. Fei was awarded Jane Plas International Student Award which is only awarded to one non-first-year international student in 2014. Fei also worked at the Mechatronics and Material Lab at Western University as a lab assistant for 4 month. In order to get more practical engineering experience, Fei spent 16 months as an internship at Callidus Engineering in London, ON. This company focuses on providing mechanical and electrical design and consulting to customers all around Canada. From these activities, Fei improved his time management skill, multitasking skill and interpersonal skills.

Currently as a master student in McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC) under Dr. Ali Emadi’s supervision, Fei enjoys the opportunity to learn the most up-to-date Power Electronics theories and to design more advanced products with other students and scholars.

Other than study, Fei has a wide interest in sports, such as snowboarding and soccer. He played couple seasons in different local amateur soccer leagues in London, ON and he is playing in a local league at Brantford, ON.
