Short Biography

Kyung-Tae Kim (IEEE S’10-M’12) received his B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from Ulsan University, South Korea, in 2010, and M.E. from Ulsan University, South Korea, in 2012. In 2015, he received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Ulsan University, South Korea. He has experience of Lab manager (2011-2014) and worked as Research Assistant (2010-2011) at the Intelligent Mechatronics Research Center, Korea Electronics Technology Institute.

Presently, he is working as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the McMaster Institute for Automotive Research and Technology (MacAUTO), McMaster University, Canada.

His research interests include characteristic analysis, design and control of electrical machine for the industry application, fault diagnosis algorithm and fault tolerance design.

Kim was born in Busan, South Korea. He always has grown based on positive thinking. He completed undergraduate coursework as a member of the Automotive IT convergence centers in the Electric track of Electrical engineering. After received his B. Eng degree, he continued to pursue his M. Eng degree in an Energy Mechatronics Laboratory at Ulsan University, South Korea. During his master’s course, he has made program for design of permanent magnet motor and performed various experiment as assist researcher at the Intelligent Mechatronics Research Center, Korea Electronics Technology Institute.

In 2012, Kim was enrolled in the PhD, has studied the motor fault diagnosis and tolerance design. Also, he was performed various project about Fault analysis, Development of the new concept motor, Permanent motor design for application of vehicle, Development of the fault detection method, Etc…

In 2015, Kim received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Ulsan University, South Korea. After received Ph.D degree, he was lectured Electrical Machine in Ulsan University and Gyeongnam national university of science and technology.

Presently, he is working as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the McMaster Institute for Automotive Research and Technology (MacAUTO).

I like to learn whatever. So I had a variety experience and I will continuous learn in the future more and more. If I can do a lot of things, I may be able to meet a variety of people and share many things. When we are trying something for each other, I am sure it will make Win-Win.
